If storage location is EWM-relevant, most of its movements are triggered from the EWM side. Here is a quick overview on how to determine if a certain storage location is EWM-managed

  1. The storage locations are linked to EWM 4-digit warehouse number using an intermediate object of ERP 3-digit warehouse number. You can find the customizing for assignment between combination of plant and storage location to ERP warehouse number in SPRO using the following path: Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Logistics Execution -> Assign Warehouse Number to Plant and Storage Location. If you don't see your storage location in the list, it is not EWM-managed, it is IM-managed.

  2. The next step is to check whether the corresponding ERP warehouse number is managed by EWM. There are multiple ways to do it, but the easiest one is to find the customizing in SPRO using the path: Logistics Execution -> Extended Warehouse Management Integration -> Basic Setup of Connectivity -> Configure SAP EWM-Specific parameters. There, you can check the value of External WM field of your ERP warehouse number. Local WM would mean the stock is WM-managed, but not EWM-managed. EWM value means all the storage locations assigned to this warehouse number are EWM-managed.
